Please Support Our Site

Please support our site and help keep our tribute alive.  We don't make any money from this site.  All donations received, as well as all proceeds earned from the sale of merchandise and ads, go to two places.  The first is to pay for the monthly costs of running the site and the second is to our AZWL Benevolent Fund.

The fund helps those Arizona Wrestling Legends in time of need.  In the past, our main use for the funds has been to provide travel assistance (such as hotel rooms) to our legends traveling to our annual reunion from out of state.

Thank you for your generousity.  We sincerely appreciate your support.

Welcome To The Home of Arizona Wrestling & Western States Wrestling

Western States Wrestling IllustrationArizona has a rich history as a "hot bed" of professional wrestling. Unfortunately, much of Arizona's wrestling history has long been ignored by the mainstream wrestling press.

Our goal is to write that wrong. Many legends of wrestling have graced Arizona rings. Top attractions such as Gorgeous George, Lou Thesz and Buddy Rogers all saw action in the "Grand Canyon State." In the 1970s, wrestling greats such as Jody Arnold, The Lumberjacks, The Comancharos, Tito Montez and "Cowboy" Bob Yuma (just to name a few) thrilled Arizona mat fans. We see this site as a permanent work in progress.

MEMBERSHIP IS FREE!  There is absolutely no cost to join our website and members receive special access that is not available to guests  (such as access to our message boards, etc.)  Additionally, members receive e-mail notices of special AZWL events.  We hope that you will support our site by becoming a member.  It's easy.  All you have to do is click here to register.

We thank you very much for stopping by and hope that you will visit with us often.

Don CurtisWe are sad to report the passing of a true Arizona Wrestling Legend.  Former NWA and WWWF Tag Team Champion Don Curtis passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 6.  He was 80 years old.

Mr. Curtis' passing comes nine days after he suffered a massive stroke.

When we were first putting the Arizona Wrestling Legends site together, Mr. Curtis and his wife of 51 years, Dottie, were among the most helpful participants.

All of us here at AZWL send our sincere, heart-felt condolences to the Curtis family and to all of his friends and fans.

God bless you, Don Curtis.
