Please Support Our Site

Please support our site and help keep our tribute alive.  We don't make any money from this site.  All donations received, as well as all proceeds earned from the sale of merchandise and ads, go to two places.  The first is to pay for the monthly costs of running the site and the second is to our AZWL Benevolent Fund.

The fund helps those Arizona Wrestling Legends in time of need.  In the past, our main use for the funds has been to provide travel assistance (such as hotel rooms) to our legends traveling to our annual reunion from out of state.

Thank you for your generousity.  We sincerely appreciate your support.

Welcome To The Home of Arizona Wrestling & Western States Wrestling

Western States Wrestling IllustrationArizona has a rich history as a "hot bed" of professional wrestling. Unfortunately, much of Arizona's wrestling history has long been ignored by the mainstream wrestling press.

Our goal is to write that wrong. Many legends of wrestling have graced Arizona rings. Top attractions such as Gorgeous George, Lou Thesz and Buddy Rogers all saw action in the "Grand Canyon State." In the 1970s, wrestling greats such as Jody Arnold, The Lumberjacks, The Comancharos, Tito Montez and "Cowboy" Bob Yuma (just to name a few) thrilled Arizona mat fans. We see this site as a permanent work in progress.

MEMBERSHIP IS FREE!  There is absolutely no cost to join our website and members receive special access that is not available to guests  (such as access to our message boards, etc.)  Additionally, members receive e-mail notices of special AZWL events.  We hope that you will support our site by becoming a member.  It's easy.  All you have to do is click here to register.

We thank you very much for stopping by and hope that you will visit with us often.

2008 AZWL Award WinnersOn January 27, at the fifth annual Arizona Wrestling Reunion, five new members were inducted into the Western States Wrestling/AZWL Hall of Fame.  The new members are The Lumberjacks 1&2, "Mr. Wrestling" David Rose and The Commancharos.

The Hall of Fame awards are voted on each year by the Arizona Wrestling Legends membership.

A special award was also given in honor of "Cowboy" Bob Yuma, the founder of the reunion.  The first annual "Cowboy Bob Yuma Fellowship Award" went to wrestler/promoter turned pastor Rev. Patrick Malone.  Rev. Malone received his award in recognition for all he does to promote mutual respect and fellowship among the members of the Arizona wrestling community.

Thanks to Alicia ("Cowboy" Bob's wife) for all she does each year to make the reunion happen and to make it a success.

AWA Wrestling Photo Album Published As Fund Raiser For AZWL.

AWA Wrestling Photo Album CoverWhile going through boxes here in our new home, I came across a lot of photos that I took at the AWA/ESPN TV tapings in Las Vegas back in the late 1980s.  These photos have been combined to create an 84 page album of that era.

The album is 84 pages long and features 8x10 photos of some of the stars of that era including Curt Hennig (AWA Champ), Greg Gagne, Shawn Michaels (you won't believe how young he looks), Marty Jannety, "Jammin'" Mitch Snow, D.J. Peterson, Sgt. Slaughter, Wahoo McDaniel, Russ Francis (yes, the NFL player), Ray "The Crippler" Stevens and many others.

I've also included ladies such as Sherri Martel, Candi Divine, Medusa Micelli and Despina Montages.

Also included are photos of some of the more memorable undercard guys like Jake "The Milkman" Milliman, Tom "Rocky" Stone, Stony Burke, etc.

What does AWA wrestling from Las Vegas have to do with Arizona Wrestling Legends?  Well, on the surface, nothing, but these are photos that I had available and I am putting this album out as a fund raiser for the AZWL.  Any proceeds I receive from the sale of the album will go to pay to keep this site up and to our benevolent fund which helps Arizona Wrestling Legends in need.

I hope that you'll consider supporting this effort.  For more information, click here.
